This year, our annual national seminar will once again be held at the Sydney school. Lohan Dou

Kung Fu Program

This seminar, we will focus on applying what we have been training to attain a “fighting mind”. This means drilling applications and developing the skills to apply a range of Choy Lee Fut principles and techniques to more free-form attack and defence. Note that all training methods will be adapted for a general seminar — the aim is to learn and obtain skills that can then be used to further your own training.

One of the ways we will train our “fighting mind” is to train select techniques and sections of the Baatgua Jong (Eight Trigrams Dummy – 八卦椿), one of CLF’s wooden dummies. This dummy trains a range of CLF principles such as the use of the external and internal gates, tan/tou/sim/bei as well as a range of powers (ging – 勁).

If you’re participating in the Kung Fu program, please bring your own gloves and hand wraps.

Lohan Dou

Qigong Program

This year’s Qigong seminar program will explore key aspects of the:

  • Tai Chi form (太極拳功)
  • Further practices within the Meditation framework (冥想) and
  • The walking system (步行功)

Seminar participants will also be introduced to a selection of key poetic phrases (歌訣) and theories that underpin the Chan Family Lohan Qigong system. This will include the six training criteria used in the practice of this system:

  1. Shape (形)
  2. Intention (意)
  3. Qi (氣)
  4. Breathing Rhythm (息)
  5. Body Shape (身)
  6. Heart (心)

The learning outcomes will provide participants with a basic understanding of the theory underlying this unique natural therapeutic Qigong system passed down through five generations of the Chan Family.

Participants will come to a deeper understanding of the reasons behind the training sequences taught in class and will be able to utilise the knowledge from this National Seminar to help their respective journeys towards better health and well-being.
